I think something in the form of a links directory would do the trick. The project topics would be sorted through categories and each category would contain the required fields to enter the project info etc..

Issue the command:
mysql -u root

If that doesnt work, delete the database and restart mysqld or reboot....

The easiest way to install is via RPM packages..You can update them with a -u switch and delete with a -e. Installing via source code makes it pretty difficult to update or keep track of version numbers.....

You cannot boost the priority...What you can do is control the amount of bandwidth a system would use.. Go through some Squid docs. Its detailed there.
