Hmmmm.... Well well well. I had heard rumblings that something was happening in Ubuntu world. I have been running it for sometime. Fedora's bloody persistence in YUM and some issues with repositories caused me to look elsewhere. I played with a few things but when I got Ubuntu up it fitted well. How...

In as far as it goes, this is the only one I have found even slightly comfortable and usable at the same time. however I have never used it on a computer and it currently sits in my work draw uncharged.

Nope - login everytime I intend to post, never found the behaviour you talk about. FC something and Firefox. Are you visiing the correct URL. If you visit on a redirected URL this can happen as you end up having to log in under the original URL and the correct URL, of course Void would have to answe...

Your USB port might be wearing out. Every time you connect you shave a tiny amount of metal way. If it is a port you use a lot for connecting and disconnecting this might be a warning to get a hub. Start logging everytime yoy connect a device and see if you start to see errors happening more often. ...

...What would be nice, tho, is a place where you can register as a Windows hater.... I used to be like that. Even visited a certain site because I hated Windows. However I discovered Linux. Now I can't hate Windows. It's like hating Barney the purple dinosaur, one does but then one realises that th...

Got to be careful. I found a company that offered preinstallation, then realized they actually but the M$ loaded systems then preinstall. So M$ are profiting by your purchase. Usually they say this in the about section for the company.

Just something to pay attention to.

Try this file

Code: Select all

/etc/sysconfig/desktop

I'm not sure if this is the global or local setting.

I recall that there is another file that is either global or user specific, obviously it would be the opposite of this one.

Don't mind me. I had to spend yesterday on M$ support and my mind is a mess. They really don't know what they are doing over there. Their fancy recovery tools and backups don't work and can't be made to work. Arrghh. Anyway the problem will be sorted by buying new pieces of equipment that I can use....
