I'm kinda seeing things more clearly now lol I've been partying and now when I read it it sure stands out as an idiot post :( sorry mate and I understand if you won't be bothered with the post. My question is how I, if it even is possible, create one big partition that's bigger than 2 TBytes and as ...

sorry thought that was clear :P

fdisk won't see the 2,5Tb disk just 2Tb, the same with parted.
and if I partition all the space I get a 2Tb disk.
I've been googling and I've found ppl saying that there is a limit of 2Tb
or is it?

my new installation of FC6 is on a 16GB partition and that also
includes 'rysnc' of all updates available and all that only take 2,7G
and this inludes KDE, so I have 13G left, no Open Office though

wonder if Debian is somewhat different maybe...

You say you have a 10GB for /
I've always had that and my space is never out, but I do mount xtra space under /home and other places and that are other physical disks.

what kind of files do you place under / ?

but on the other hand with 320GB disk,
you could easily make 20Gb for /

In this too curious I am, cos I've always made a fresh install when so much hardware is changed, but if Linux is able to do this... could be cool to hear

Got it :) I'll try your configuration cos I like that more than what you say: "owned by root"-thing. Hopefully I can get this fully operational by doing this, cos "Me/Linux/Web" is so new to me(kinda) that I don't know crap, lol PS. I gotta thank you SO much for all your answers ...

Basher52 wrote:- And what did you say, Void. I should create a "new" userid and then chown the webfiles to that ID... right? I know it was a bad idea to chown them to the Apache ID, that I do know :P

Is this correct?

Thanks :)

Me too thinks that I can figure out the hardware for it, but I don't wanna exceed too much and since the server is gonna be placed at my apartment I sure want it to be quiet too, thus no extreamly "beefy" machine.
