Sys admin tasks

Not sure where if this is the right place to post as it isn't network specific, or application specific. I have become more and more responsible for our internal network at work. This includes our linux web and email servers, our internal linux file and print servers, as well as the developers/desig...

Ha! That is great :) I don't have any examples, but will definitely keep an eye out.

Re: Need to center this image

I'd also like to suggest learning HTML really well. Since most of what you will be doing (probably anyways) is outputting HTML from your PHP, it would make sense to be able to write it well.

Re: Need to center this image

I do not know of any good online schools for this. If you want to learn CSS I highly recommend picking up any book by Eric Meyer - http://meyerweb.com/ For a good reference check out w3schools - http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_reference.asp I learned CSS through a lot of trial and error, and lots o...

Re: Ubuntu destroyed my youth.

I am a huge fan of Ubuntu. I don't use it personally, but I have replaced Windows with Ubuntu on my parents computer, and it was a flawless transition. They have adjusted well to it. More "normal" people using some form of Linux is a good thing in my opinion. I applaud their attempt to create a unif...

Re: Board upgrade

Not sure if I am going to change it from the default. It's a pain in the ass to upgrade when you start using custom themes I have found, especially when you add a few mods. Truth. Unless you absolutely must (or are getting paid), it is much easier to maintain the system without customizing the layo...

Re: Need to center this image

background-position only affects the background-image css property, it does nothing for img tags.

If you want to center the image, apply text-align:center to the parent element.

I was using rsync to sync the media pc to the backup server. Worked great. So much so that I started creating a more robust script to do incremental backups for fun :)

Backups

I have been battling with developing a good backup solution at home for a while now. It seems that unless you are a large enterprise (with money) or just have one computer, there are not really any good options for backups. We have 5 computers in the house, all running either OS X, Windows, or Fedor...

I do a lot just from my phone. Invoicing of clients, project management, gaming, social networking. It's crazy. I really only need my laptop to do the actual work at this point. Can even ssh/vnc from my phone, if I need to. haha, ridiculous.
