I remember that option in the BIOS, I have a spare drive somewhere to try. I have my DVD on the 3rd SATA port. I'll move that over first and see if I can get it to boot. Regarding 32bit Ubuntu though, I figure I need 64bit because i have 8GB of ram on this machine. However I've noticed for a long ti...

Ubuntu x64 pains.
I've ran out of places to whine for help so I thought I would drop by this place. It seems Ubuntu utterly hates my computer and my computer hates it. The problem as I explain it will look like a bad CD, but it is not, I repeat NOT a problem with faulty media. Unless on off the chance the faulty medi...

gOS
I've been using gOS, based on Ubuntu and uses Enlightenment. Very good distribution, extremely simple and easy to extend yourself.

Currently they use "User Manager for Domains" which is some tool for Windows XP that does not like samba . He can still login to the NT domain but for some reason according to PAM, which dovecot uses, his account has expired. Samba uses ldap for authentication. Changing the password with passwd does...

Oh lawdy is this system even bloody Fedora!
Why does /etc/sysconfig/rhn exist and contain files named up2date. I know what this smells like well because as a teenager for a while I would just order the latest red-hat and have a nice system. When kids could afford red-hat that is. [root@pusa3 rhn]# cat /etc/fedora-release Fedora Core release 4...

I know nothing about pam!
I need to get inside pam to find out why dovecot (which authenticates with pam) is causing problems for an account. Basically the account is being told it has expired, and I have no idea how to change this. I think pam uses ldap from what the old admin has passed on to me, however his english is dif...

SASL-LDAP problems, i need a guru
I have been having a problem with a SASL/LDAP configuration for Dovecot. The place I am working at uses SASL. There are over 50 accounts on this network which somehow exist from the "Windows XP Account Manager for Domains" which is some Microsoft Tool which cannot see the groups according to Samba a...

Apparently this issue will go away if I downgrade Samba to 2.x. There is apparently some way of fixing this, I think however basically the IDEALX scripts are less than ideal however red tape and such tend to stop me from doing too many changes to the configuration. The past Administrator told me tha...

It all worked apparently until the server was upgraded, presumably to Fedora Core 4 since that is what the system is running. My mind can't remember the entire history of the Fedora project but the server was installed some two years ago I presume. It seems that the problem lies in the Samba configu...
