Samba/LDAP issues
At the place I am working ( Yun Yang Temple ) we are running a Fedora Core 4 server with a load of Windows XP client machines. There is an issue at the samba level in which no groups can be seen by typical NT based administration software (the NT 4.0 "USRMGR.EXE" running through some form of elven m...

Networking problems
I have recently decided to move a laptop of mine to Gentoo Linux. The laptop has no ability to boot from USB and the DVD drive was completely FUBAR'd. So I borrowed an adaptor from one of my brothers workmates to interface the laptop's harddrive with my PC so I could install Gentoo with the 2006.1 l...

Debian 3.1-r2 sound
Hey there,
I have been using debian 3.1-r2 with gnome for a while now on my laptop, and I can't seem to get sound to work with alsa. I need to be able to change the volume control gnome uses and set the device permissions automatically, etc, any ideas?

Note: If anyone can get me hosting for a simple blog for a group of friends (basically a 99% text based drupal site) I would be really happy. It would be handy if I could point my domain kintarolabs.org and subdomains to it as well. Anyone who can help me with any hosting should contact my email wi...

Where have you been? It's alright we know where you've been.
Mmmmm Pink Floyd. My website is dead and I am in desperate need of hosting so I had nowhere else to write about my whereabouts online. I am living in Ballarat which is a rural city, about an hour and a half from Melbourne. I am practically homeless at the moment. I wonder from friend to friends hous...

sync between two devices
I was interested in some kind of script to sync between a USB memory stick and a directory called "Sync" in my homedir. The idea of this is that I create a bunch of symlinks to thinks, and click and launcher on the desktop and run the script, and things go smoothly. Then I eject my device, and walk ...

Ubuntu sucks, don't touch it with a 100 foot pole ever, I have used it. It is the biggest piece of crap on the earth. I wish there was a new version of the GPL that Torvalds could use to give him the power to abolish the distribution of the system, I hate it that much I'd like to make a Benevolent D...
