You need to make a symlink in the mozilla plugins directory to /usr/java/j2re1.4.1_01/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so.

*Do not* copy the plugin, make sure to symlink it.

Open up /etc/initab in vim, change the 'id:3:initdefault:' line to read 'id:5:initdefault:'

Which makes you boot into runlevel 5 rather than 3. IT will start KDM at boot.
