Hello, Ok, so phpsysinfo works fine for you. Inlcuding the info relating disk usage and network usage? Ok well I guess I'll be downloading rc5 when I get back today - might try doing it from work if it's not too busy... Thanks for getting back to me. Oh one question - when you view the phpsysinfo pa...

Anyone successfully running phpsysinfo in Fedora 9?

I've been trying to get phpsysinfo running on a test rig at home. Initially I was using the most recent stable release but I kept getting these errors: File Line Command Message common_functions.php 372 file_exists(/proc/net/dev) the file does not exist on your machine common_functions.php 213 /bin/...

Happy New Year

Well it's been ages since I've stopped by here, unfortunately I don't have a linux machine at the moment - long story - but I'm getting myself a new macbook this quarter (I hope) and I'll give half the HDD to the Linux cause. Anyway Happy New Year. I hope 2007 is a good year for each of you. All the...

A quarter of UK users? I have never met anyone that would have done this. I have spent many an hour fixing problems for other people caused by simply not having common sense when browsing - people that click Yes on the pop up windows, or people that download software from Kazaa, or even use Kazaa fo...

SuSE 10

Hey. It's been a while since I posted here (although I do stop by fairly often to see what's happening). Anyway, to the point. I absolutely love Fedora. There's a long story there that I won't go into, it's just fair to say that I used to tinker with Linux - found it a little hard for me to get on w...

Create your own real time visual effects with EffecTV

Hi people, I am just including a link to a great resource for using Linux to create real time visual effects. Use EffecTV and Simple DirectMedia Layer (SDL) to create your own real-time visual effects on live video. Learn how to integrate geometric primitives, bitmap image loading, and simple motion...

Thanks for your excellent help. I added each of your repositories to the sources.list file and did an apt-get update and then apt-get install kernel-image-2.6.11-1-k7. Each time I was told that the package was not found. I had subsituted each of your unstable entries for stable. so I added the unsta...

Thanks for the help, as for the kernel, for now I would like to stick to the apt (easy) way of doing things  Can I ask what repositories you are using as I do not have this kernel version available to me. Are the repositories for apt the same as those for synaptic? If so I only have blueyonder...

I'm curious about what kernel version you are running. I also have ksoftirqd_CPU0 running but it consumes 0.0 % of my cpu cycles. I googled a bit and came up with a lot of people complaining about latency and stuff like that and noticed that they were all running 2.4 versions of the kernel. Did you...

By the way, it is only a sempron, and the machine only has 128MB RAM, I never expected it to be 'fast' I am simply remarking that under Debian, my system seems to be slower than it was with Fedora.

Dave

PS:

Does anyone know what the purpose of this program is??

Ok, have checked top, it is showing that folding is taking a good 95% which is good, I want it to take as much of CPU as possible. I have included the output of top, but I am not sure what the little box thing is all about as that does not show up in my text editor, so not sure why it has stuck load...

I want to control which services run at boot time in Debian

Hi there. Ok after my Gentoo failure I decided to follow some advice that was given to me ages ago and get Debian. I installed the net-install method, it was a little odd, and something must have broken somewhere as I made choices along the way about my keyboard, time zone and monitor resolutions, n...

Well I think with me I want to try something else, the thing is I don't mind playing with something once its installed, but this much effort just to install it - nah, not for me I am embarresed to admit. Well maybe I will try it again in the future. The thing is I actualy want a GUI distro, preferab...
