Hi thanks for the tips. I wonder if you can help me figure out a problem I seem to have created somehow. The night I installed the stats, they worked perfectly. I could access them from any local machine, I could access them from any remote machine using my external IP. I don't think I made any chan...

Hi. I have a simple Apache setup running, it is serving a single HTML page that is just an IFrame that points to a different site. I have got webalizer to work also (V. easy) I just wonder; I need to type webalizer at command line to cause the logs to update. I take it most people have this setup to...

yeah I am using a remote server:
ftp://sunsite.mff.cuni.cz/pub/fedora/test/3.90
and yes I think all the mirrors (in europe anyways) are bogged down tonight
Oh well, I like the fact I am getting to try this install method anyway.

Installing FC4 over FTP (test1)
Well I am in the process of installing FC4 over FTP - this is pretty damned slow, I don't know if FTP installs are always this slow, or if they are just slower because EVERYONE is trying to get FC4 from the mirrors or if FTP is normally real fast, and I just picked a bad day? Anyway, I just thought ...

Just 'tried' to swap my ADSL modem - FAILED :(
Ok the title does not really represent the 'story' I don't want to start from the beginning as that'll take to long. I will just cover a few points that led me to where I am now. A few years back I finally got my hands on a nice Broadband connection from my local Cable Co. I already had an establish...

I just hooked my USB Zip drive up to my Fedora machine. It worked in much the same way, Fedora appeared to detect it right away, I then inserted a Zip disk and a little icon appeared on the desktop called Zip-100 and I can copy files to and from this device with no problems. Dave EDIT: The Zip drive...

Have you tried to use USB in Fedora/Redhat yet? and if so what happened? I have not used a portable USB hard drive. But I have used USB mice I have no problems with this. I also use the USB connection to connect my digital camera to my computer so that I can transfer files etc. I have had no problem...

Thats interesting, I actually meant MY internet usage might be impared should I host the site from my own home. Do you have 2 internet connections? if not, then is your internet experience effected by having the site running over the same line, especially as your site gets quite a seriously large am...

Thanks for the insight Void. Typical MS and their wish to control EVERY thing  Like I said I am not 'too' bothered, its nice to have access to all those files, a good few GB of My docs, but there is nothing I don't have backed up anyway, so no biggie. Cheerz Dave PS: In my 'younger' days... wo...

I have finally decided to try and get my laptop to suspend, as it has never worked since I installed FC2 perhaps 5 months ago. I have since installed FC2 a couple more times and am now using FC3, it has never worked once. I can suspend my laptop with the command echo -n 3 > /proc/acpi/sleep Thanks t...

You are right there Void. My ISP likes to keep things locked up nice and tight. I suppose I can't complain too much, it is 'free' space, and they have the rest of the server to worry about, its just a site that a friend and my self test things at really, but we do get traffic, sometimes from the mos...

Oh, Thanks for letting me know. I seem to have all these bizare little problems :( Its probably my own fault, as you have seen in other posts, sometimes the fault is completely mine (typo's spring to mind) But in this case, I just couldn't get it to work with out the addition of gid=500, I am not su...

Thank you for your suggestions, I think perhaps I believe you can also download your own copy of Webalizer and run it locally in your web directory. This may not work as the server is not mine, the site is hosted with my ISP. I have never used Webalizer, well I have never installed it, but I am assu...
