Oh, that looks like a method of connecting to a shared network drive. I would never have thought that this would on my machine, I shall have to remember it. Can I just ask; You provide a Username and password, what is this for? Does this just 'con' FC into thinking you have permisiion to use the dri...

Webalizer
Just a quick question, I wonder if anyone here might know the answer? I have 3 sites gosted with 2 different hosting companies, neither of the companies appears to offer a web stats service that I can open to the public. What I mean by this is that on one ofthe sites at least I would like to have a ...

 Ok so this means I am going to have to register under a new name at your site now, to try and forget about this 'incident' This entire post all stems from a typo  Thank you Void. (for pointing out what the log file was telling me (and for suggesting the log file)) I forgot that I had cr...

EDIT: Ok well the log may be a good pointer - log output: /etc/rc5.d/S99local: line 11: ./start_net: No such file or directory Not sure what is going on with this, my rc.local looks like this: #!/bin/sh # # This script will be executed *after* all the other init scripts. # You can put your own initi...

Thanks Void, I tried to add the 'ONBOOT=yes' command, but this appears to have made no difference. The strangest thing is that the networc config screen does not actually appear to really recognise the device at all. My other wireless problems stemmed from the fact that FC did not know what the card...

Yes that is odd. I have a machine that does the same thing, I am not too sure why, but like you said its not the end of the world, so I don't really worry about it too much. I have 3 machines in my house with FC3 installed, and I installed them all pretty much the same way. 2 of them do as they shou...

Hi, an update; I was told to add this: /home/danielle/Downloads/acx100-0.2.0pre8_plus_fixes_45/scripts ./start_net to /etc/rc.local But this is already there, now I am not sure, but I guess the command echo -e '\n#Bring acx100 device up\ncd /home/danielle/acx100-0.2.0pre8_plus_fixes_45/scripts\n./st...

Pointers on running a startup script to ACTIVATE my dwl-520+
Hi. I have installed FC3 on my younger sisters computer, I know I can make it quite appealing to her when I actually get it working. Har main (pretty much 99%) computer usage is Internet based, so I Need the wireless card to be working. I have followed Craigs instructions: http://www.houseofcraig.ne...

I might have to whip up a step by step HOWTO and provide all my ACPI scripts/confs if anyone is interested. Yeah I wouldn't mind seeing that if you got the time. I have a HP laptop, does the job just fine, but the battery monitor does not update, and the suspend does not work. Not sure what is invo...

  What can I say, I used MS products for first 5 or so years of computer usage, went to uni had to use Unix, thought it was OK, so decided to get what I believed was a free version of unix - linux. (Caldera easy linux) thought it was pretty damn good, but didn't really work to well for m...

Yeah thanx for that Void, I think I will get Debian in a while. I have been wanting to try it for some time now, but have not got to the stage of handing over a mesely £5 or whatever for it, so I have been trying to get the best from the other distros I have. I will get Debian - I will ! :) Got Mand...

Good Bye Knoppix!
hey thanx for that ;) Ok after all that though... An installed version of Knoppix is horrible! (Or at least the way I installed it) 1: it uses KDE - I hate KDE, although I imagine that this can be changed without toomuch effort. 2: you have this HUGE list of installed apps and drivers that you don't...
