yes my system has the rhgb quiet command. odd.... every FC3 does this so far as I have noticed. the next time I re-start the box I am preparing to be a firewall I'll have to watch it .... yeah if i saw error messages about things failing I'd totaly understand that. not the end of the world... but odd.

About the startup screen: details view

just wondering if this happens on all FC3 or just me. grub does it 's thingnand then the graphical system startup gets going and at some point it decides to open the details view and show me the text of the different steps... then it closes.... then it opens.... and if I change it from one to the ot...

OK so I read the code from the temp file and the other bits....

it's trying to run the make nonint_oldconfig with the 586 smp.config and thats where it's going wrong...

but I don't want to do the smp jsut the uni-proc ..... but now I am at least close to whats happening....

The short answer is you add the patch to your ~/redhat/SOURCES directory and you would add two new lines to the kernel.spec to define and apply it.
