I own a Plextor 2.5" 120GB USB drive which is permanently hooked up to my pc - it doesn't need a power supply so I never unplug it. Kopete should allow you to "cam, voice and photoshare in yahoo".
Only prerequisite is the jasper image convert program.
And a simple
