Creating SQL database

hi all,

I've installed apache+mySQL.....how do I create a new database from the command line? I also need to add a user and password....can this be done from the command line?

hi,

Afraid to say, there is no way u can undelete in ext3...ITs a journaling file system and zeroes out the inodes....(unlike ext2)

You could try to 'cat' the hdd to another hdd and do a grep for the files...

hmm.....This will be a bit tough to explain, but let me give it a shot. When the system is first switched ON, I do a free -m from the console and make a note of the free RAM available. I then login and fire up evolution, galeon etc etc. After closing all the apps, free -m shows hardly any free RAM. ...

Our prof at college mentioned that the kernel provided by the distro is the best and is optimised for performance. He also said that compiling the kernel from kernel.org would break everything and would leave the distro severely crippled since there are certain distro-specific settings.... Can it ge...

Do u guys just patch the existing kernel which comes form RedHat or Debian etc? or do u downlaod the kernel from kernel.org and compile the whole thing from scratch?

Thats true....But, sometimes a reboot is inevitable.. So instead of going through the whole procedure, I would prefer to somehow kill everything and then do a init 5..Assuming I kill everything in init 3. Am pretty sure there should be a way though... The amount of free memory has nothing to do with...
