Oh my, I have to do this now. I finally have a reason to finish my VCR computer project (building a computer inside of an old VCR case).

Would an 80gb drive be sufficient? I don't plan on recording a whole lot of videos and leaving them on there.

Here's the exact error message I get:
There was an error loading the theme Default
Can't open file /usr/share/gdm/themes/Default/Default.xml
I was wrong when I mentioned clouds, there aren't any clouds in it. Just some fancy blue colors and a large picture of a flower.

The error is somethign about not being able to find the default profile. When I get home I can try to give you the exact message. Basically I think a file got deleted that it didn't want deleted. As for the different login screen... The login screen Fedora uses it blue and has the Fedora logo oin it...

Finished doing it back on Saturday I think. Some stuff was still acting weird (samba shares giving permission denied, website stuff not working), but that turned out to be SELinux junk. Disabled that and almost everything is working fine. So far I have only had one problem that crops up on me. I rec...

This could take a while... I'll wok on removing the duplicates tonight. Thanks edit: I've been working on it for about an hour and a half or so, and just now made it to the M's. I will pick up there tommorow, since I'm extra tired after staying up so late last night. Only 586 more packages to go thr...

I just let it boot without the boot cd in and everything seems to be working fine for the most part. One problem, my rpm data is screwed up real bad. Any tiem I try to install an RPM (li...

Well, I attempted to upgrade form FC3 to FC5 today. Apparently this is not possible and I have completely screwed up the system, atleast that is what the people in #fedora on irc.freenode.net are saying I have quite a bit of stuff in my /var/www/html/ folder that I would really prefer to not lose......

Hmm, looks like it I guess.

FC3 apt not updating

For the past two months, there have been no updates to the FC3 apt repositories for me. I have done apt-get update, and used the refreshing information in Synaptic. Is this a problem for anyone else or am I just having some odd problems? I can't see the apt repositories going 2 months without packag...

I'm thinking I might just restrict it to certain ip addresses. I can't really think of any reason I would need on it when I'm at a hotel or so. Port knocking sounds interesting, however I have to use PuTTy many tims to connect to it, and I'm not really sure how to set up port knocking with PuTTy

SSH bruteforce attempts

Reading through my sshd logs, I've noticed quite a few attempts to bruteforce my sshd server. Nothing wrong with it, as they haven't come close to getting through, but I don't like the fact that I am getting spammed with connection attempts by various IPs every few days. Would it be possible to writ...

http://12.205.52.240/projects/element/?pageid=login would be the place to go. The path will be set then. Can't change the path and check right now, I'm at school and the ftp isn't running. SSH isn't set up to allow outside connections, so I can't conect to it and enable it. I'll check when I get home.

I was talking to a few people who mentioned their power went out for a second or so around the time the machine would have restarted. I wasn't at home at the time, and since laptops have batteries it never got reset. Weird though that no clocks lost their time. The permission issue is still puzzling...
