Since I have other employees that will need to create users is there a script I could write that would easily do this? Could it be done in a shell script. Can you use <STDIN> in bash or does that have to be PERL. And would a PERL script be easier? In my test perl script, how would I call system comm...

as far as the vsftpd config, if I have the /etc/passwd file with the users shell as /bin/false or /sbin/nologin they do not have access to the ftp site. If I change it to /bin/bash they log right in. Any ideas?

speaking of vsftpd, I was wanting to know the most secure way to run it. I hear that SANS, which I have become a big fan of, really likes it. Since my web/ftp server just crashed because of hw issues, I get to rebuild it with FC1/2. (not sure which one yet) anywho, does anyone have a really good con...

I am Back and Love Windows even more!!!

Not that I am a popular visitor to this site but Void may remember me. actually if you look at my rating, you can tell my posts are few and far between. I am a pretty intermediate penguin now and feel I am taking my knowledge to a whole new level. I guess I better explain my subject line before Void...

I think it would be fine if you say its from sysadmin magazine june 2003 edition...? I don't know all the legal mumbo jumbo but that might get more subscribers so it is almost like free advertising for them. I am a fairly intermediate linux user and I find helpful stuff in there every month. So much...

I am byrdman. X11 Right here. (wave) I used to be a micro$oft fan until one day, VoidMain slipped in our building and slapped me upside the head with the GNU GPL. When the stars left from spinning around my head, he responded to every project we had going, with, "I can do that for free!" and I said,...
