bummer...I did not see any swap mounted.
I am booting to a 1GB stick...what if I boot to a larger USB drive?
Can I mount swap with booting to pen drives?

is there another way to get the root filesystem onto a root.disk?

just found out when you install from the LiveCD USB, it puts the ext4 on by default:

yes, I am booting from a USB pendrive. maybe that's my problem. The F11 laptop, which doesn't have a cd drive, has the ext4 fs on it. can I make it ext3 with out a reload? if not, no biggie

here is what I am doing, just to recap incase I am missing something. 1. booting to a F11-LiveCD from USB 2. making /mnt/root; /mnt/usbstick; /mnt/rootdisk 3. mounting /dev/sda2/ (laptop's root filesystem - F11) to /mnt/root 4. mounting /dev/sdc2/ to /mnt/usbstick 5. dd of=/dev/zero if=/mnt/usbstick...

its not really a 'freeze' or lock up, its more like the machine slowly gets slower until I have to reboot.

is there another way to get an image of this PC?

been a while since I have done the images but wanted to ask another question... I have a system that I have created as a default on how the system should be. I booted to this system via a Live Fedora 11 bootable USB drive. I mounted the root filesystem as /mnt/root. I mounted the second usb as /mnt/...

Found my own answer by trial and error.

added single quotes around the $zip at the end so my second line of code looks like:

Code: Select all

$query="SELECT * FROM int_weather AS w, int_forecast AS f WHERE w.zip = f.zip AND f.zip = '$zip'";

Another thing, I go into mysql and do the query:

SELECT * FROM int_weather AS w, int_forecast AS f WHERE w.zip = f.zip AND f.zip = 'EGLL"
it returns the correct data, but when I put it into the URL query is when I get the error.

Just wanted to clarify.

PHP and MySQL question

I have a php page that generates XML output. The beginning of the php has this: $zip = mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['zip']); $query="SELECT * FROM int_weather AS w, int_forecast AS f WHERE w.zip = f.zip AND f.zip = $zip"; $result=mysql_query($query); $num=mysql_numrows($result); mysql_close(); so ...

Well, for one, I have 4 separate desktops, each with its own launcher and panel and desktop. If I start an app, say System Monitor on the first, or primary, or :0, it starts on that screen, but if I go on the 4th desktop, all the way to the right, and start System Monitor, it also starts on the :0 d...

You have been so helpful, I though I would try again :) my initial thinking started with this: $days = array("mon", "tues", "wed", "thurs","fri","sat","sun"); foreach($days as $num => $day) { echo ($num+1) . " " . $day ."</br>"; since today is tuesday, php returns today as 2 when i do : $today = dat...
