BTC PC380 Webcam and FC2

Postby lionguy » Tue Jun 22, 2004 4:25 pm

Hello everybody!

Now after some days of surfing in google I excited that I did a silly mistake when I bought a BTC PC380 Webcam. Just only two months after this purchase I wondered that my webcam will not work under Linux OS...but. Now I have some interesting facts:
1. Fedora Core 2 detects my webcam. Under hardware viewer, as "unknown"
2. Under System Information Centre, as USB Camera that has:
Class 0 (defined at Interface level)
sub-class 0
protocol 0
USB version 1.16

Manufacturer ID 0xc45 (Microdia)
Product ID 0x6028
Release 1.1
Speed 12 Mbit/s
channels: 0
Max packet size 0
My PC is a VIA 8235 chip based on a MSI P4MAM-l motherboard.

I think that it is very possible to use this camera under linux. For first I found that Microdia is a flash&USB peripheral device manufacturer. So...my webcam uses a Microdia flash chip or memory. The information shows that camera is running only on one channel. Google give me an answer that There is possible to run a board camera that have the same vID and pID. Any comments from other Linux fans and camera users???
I want to try anyway to get running this cam. So any ideas are very welcome.

No I do not recommend to use it with linux. I have tried to find other drivers for the webcams that have same pID and vID but these do not works with my current oldest FC2 kernel. If I will be able to boot up my PC with current NVIDIA drivers into newest kernel then I will try again to use these drivers. And I will report here the results if they `ll be successful.
I will try to do this very soon
