hdparm does not work on RH2.1 AS

Postby rayray » Mon Feb 21, 2005 6:29 pm

Hello Forum,
I have 2 servers running nearly identical hardware. hdparm works on the RH AS release 3 server. hdparm does not work on the RH2.1 AS server. hdparm returns "/dev/drivename not support by hdparm". Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm, rayray huh? I get this funny feeling I might know you. :) What sort of hardware are you trying to run this on? I guess if my first thought is correct then I already know what hardware these are running on. :) Did it really say "/dev/drivename" exactly or did you replace the actual output? It would be helpful to know what the actual output was. If I know the hardware in question I am guessing it says "/dev/cciss*". If that's the case it's possible that hdparm didn't support it back on 2.1 as I believe hdparm used to be only a tool for IDE drives. Could probably grab the latest hdparm source and compile it and run it (or I could build an RPM for 2.1 out of the latest source).

P.S. If you are who I think you are then this is billable. :)
