I need to edit my Gnome MIMEtypes. I'm kinda tired of Gnome thinking that *.dat files are movies of some type. Lots of people use them as just plain datafiles. If I ever do come across some movie with a dat extension, I'll know what to do with it.

Either a terminal command or a gui tool to work on this would be helpful.

Just right-click on it and select "properties" and "Open With" and you can change/add the program to open it with.
