Understanding rpm

I am attempting to download an onscreen digitizer. This program comes in 3 options: a source tarball, an RH9 rpm, and a source rpm. Since I am not using RH9, I figure one of the others would be better. Now I know what to do with a source tarball. But what do you do with a source rpm? I think this would be a useful thing to know.

The same thing I told you to do with synaptic (was it you?):

rpmbuild --rebuild someprogram.src.rpm
rpm -Uvh /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/someprogram*
