Maxtor USB

I have a Maxstor USB drive that I would like to connect to my RH9 box.
Shouldnt i just be able to plug it in and go?

I know you should be able to on the later Fedora releases but I don't recall on RH9. I would think the worst case is that you would have to load the usb-storage module and manually mount it but I suppose it might not be recognized by the USB subsystem. After plugging it in look at the output of these commands:

# lsusb
# dmesg
