rc shell in Fedora

Post by Tux » Sun Dec 03, 2006 1:52 pm

Hey folks,

I'm looking for a Unix rc shell implementation for Fedora (or Linux generally) and not having much luck.
Does anyone know where I'd find such a think? Preferably in an RPM.

Not sure what you are referring to. Are you talking about BSD style startup scripts?

It's something that is installed on the slackware machines in my department, but i need a similar setup at home.

From the man page:
NAME
rc - shell]

DESCRIPTION
rc is a command interpreter and programming language similar to sh(1).
It is based on the AT&T Plan 9 shell of the same name. The shell
offers a C-like syntax (much more so than the C shell), and a powerful
mechanism for manipulating variables. It is reasonably small and rea-
sonably fast, especially when compared to contemporary shells. Its use
is intended to be interactive, but the language lends itself well to
scripts.

For reference, I just found an RPM designed for OpenSUSE which seems to do the trick:

I could repackage it for you if you like?

Hey, thanks for the offer :-)

As it happens I repackaged it already without too much fuss, just one SUSE macro to remove and the dependencies were pretty standard.
