Hey, you must be Fury13 on the Ars forums? As I mentioned on Ars, I don't believe there is a file in Linux or Linux associated apps named if_ether.c.

That file is part of the networking control in BSD.

It is not in the net-tools srpm, that was the first place I looked. arp.c is there, the arp program, but no internal arp calls.

I am referencing Stevens TCP/IP Ill vol2, and would like to see more of if_ether.c.

I find it hard to believe it is not as easy to find as this.

Like I said, I believe you are having such a hard time finding it because I don't believe it exists in any of the Red Hat source. In fact it doesn't exist in any Linux related source at all that I have been able to find on Google. I don't have that book but I am guessing it is referring to one of the BSDs...

Looks to be the case. You dont own the "Stevens Collection"?

The books are based off of BSD I believe ... should have thought of that sooner.

The BSD site was great, all I need is there. However, I am still guessing if arprequest is even used in GNU/Linux. Any thoughts on how to approach locating the source? I will be staring in the kernal source, hoping there is a faster way.
