It's hard to tell without seeing your configuration. Are there any login errors that would indicate where the problem is (/var/log/secure, /var/log/messages)? Were you able to query your directory with ldapsearch? Did you look at all my configuration samples in the previous posts?

Regarding the NetscapeRoot:

This subtree contains the configuration information of other Netscape servers, such as Administration Server. The Administration Server takes care of authentication and all actions that cannot be performed through LDAP (such as starting or stopping).

You didn't add the user under that did you? I assume you should have your own directory and added your new user under "People" within that.
