I've come across a few different errors trying to do a YUM update. Cant allocate memory and several packages that have been renamed conflict with current packages (the ones they are supposed to be replacing).

If I burned the DVD and did an update with that, would i still have these problems? Does it somehow know how to fix everything that get messed up?

It "should". I wouldn't think you should be having the problems you are having now though. Are you updating from F7 to F8 or from an earlier version?

The naming problems are things such as python-newt-f8 conflicts with package newt-f7, but there is several instances (libuser, system-config-printer-libs, x264, et cetera, et cetera).

Some of the replacements work like theyre supposed to (ie. 'kdeprinting-libs-f8 replacing kdeprinting-f7')

Perhaps i'll try the new Ubuntu, seeing as i just replaced Debian with CentOS on my server.

I like to have both deb and rpm based distros running (for the sake of incompatibility ).
