Is this for security reasons or just system resource/cleanup reasons? From a shell level or desktop level? For example, you can add "TMOUT" to the bash profile which will automatically exit the shell (if you are ssh'd in to a system or have a shell windows open). If you are talking about having a desktop session logged out that's a little different. It would make sense to have the screensaver set up to log a person out of a desktop session. Not sure off the top of my head on that but shouldn't be hard to figure something out. Or are you talking any process by a normal user? That might be a little more difficult and may have unintended consequences.
