open gui's on remote displays

Post by byrdman » Mon Feb 22, 2010 3:58 pm

I was wondering if someone could help. I can create a cron script that will kill my browser in my logged in display...but how can I create a cron script to start a browser (opera) on the logged in display? everytime I try and envoke it, I get :

Code: Select all

ERROR: ld.so: object 'libjvm.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libawt.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
No protocol specified
opera: cannot connect to X server :0
opera: Fatal error on creating Qt application object
Any ideas?

Add "export DISPLAY=:0;" in your cron line right before your opera command.
