Have anyone tried this?
I've read a lot of stuff that this crashed the installation but I wonder... have anyone of you seen this, or such?

I tried to install Fedora 18. Couldn't get the partition manager in the installation to actually allow me to create custom partitions. I found the new installer to be terribly unusable and buggy. I ended up allowing Fedora to make my partitions for me and finally got it installed. It could not detect my video card or screen properly, it did not detect my wireless card properly, and overall was just a mess. I replaced it with Ubuntu 12.04, and that has been, so far, perfect. Not a single issue.

This was on a Dell Vostro 3500, a pretty standard business-ish laptop.

I really hope this installer doesn't find its way into RHEL anytime soon.

I am also really shocked that they released this OS. Fedora 18 is not a good desktop OS

Sorry, that was kind of ranty! I should clarify that I was not attempting to upgrade from Fedora 17.

How did the upgrade go from 17 to 18?

you rant lol you have all right to do that...

After all I've seen using fedup to upgrade to F18 I decided not to do it, also I don't want to use the "cutting egde" of Fedora.
I usually wait a while so most problems is fixed.
Still using F16 and F17.

btw... Now when I think of it I sure saw something of what you said... the custom setup of the partitions.
Think there was a "fix" for it too but... ah.... I'll wait a while before I use F18.

and I'm going back from gnome to KDE again... it looks too much like Win-8 and that I sure hat... oops... dislike

I have been using XFCE for a while now and really dig it. I haven't used KDE in probably 6 years!

Wow, kde plasma is very nice. Definitely better than Gnome 3

It even ran well with compiz in a virtual machine! I'll try to use it for a week or so at the office.
