Hi.
Been using apt and synaptic for a while now without any problems,
that is until tonight.
Started synaptic, checked for upgrades and it came back with some actions needed
before it could proceed.
I said ok - lets have a look - and it said its gonna remove 59 packages??????
Stopped the thing, did some reading, couldn't find anything about this and tried again.
Same result - so I thought - lets try it - looks like it'll only remove the old installs.
BOOM - it went and removed ALL of KDE and some other stuff. Now I can't find a log of what was removed.
I'm still logged into my KDE session, from where I'm running this Mozilla session -
but no KDE progs will start (seeing it ain't there anymore)
What exactly is the story, and how am I now going to get the stuff back, without
knowing what was removed.
Bloody hell - then tried up2date and it said I don't need anything and all is up to date.
Anybody have this happen to them?
Right now I don't know whether to laugh at myself or just go out and kick the dog,
he might even put up a fight!
And yes - I do NOT have a system backup younger than about 5 weeks!
