just looked in my boot.log and found this, but it seems to be just warnings.
Are they anything to be concerned about?

What's in your /etc/sysconfig/keyboard file? It looks like something to do with the "loadkeys" command in /etc/rc.sysinit but I don't understand the "FTP" in the messages. Not exactly sure... Unless of course you are running an FTP server and it is trying to load a keyboard table or something. Do you start an FTP server at boot time? If so which one(s) are you using?

yes...im using an FTP...and offcourse glftpd(the best..lol)

but i think i havent seen these MSGs before(i usually look at the message log at finishtime of install) thru all the other reinstalls ive
made, and ive made a few...lol....think im up to about 20 now..lol
hehe...you learn as you reinstall...lol

Let me ask you this. Your server name wouldn't happen to be "FTP" would it? If so then I believe the messages are coming fom "loadkeys" which is run from /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit which is run at bootup. My guess is you have a keyboard configuration file problem. Either /etc/sysconfig/keyboard or /etc/sysconfig/console/default.kmap is where my money lies.

well...You are "on the nose"..

The prefix IS ftp...and add some

but...the function of the keyboard(locally...at the console) works great...
and... what does the name of the ftp has to do with the keyboard cofiguration?

The question of this i more of a curious mind, since the local keyboard seems to work perfectly.
but...i got some other "Segentaion fault" that i think is kinda like
(BAD LANGUAGE=)windows "General protection fault" and mean that if u dont wanna put ur whole life into it...reinstall...lol

or?

The "FTP" in the log messages threw me off. Seeing "FTP" made me think the messages were coming from the FTP daemon when in fact "FTP" is just your server name. Apparently the errors (or warnings) are not significant enough to cause a noticable problem but I have never seen them before so I don't know.

Now, 1) Do you have anything in your /etc/sysconfig/console directory? 2) What is the contents of your /etc/sysconfig/keyboard file?

I think those messages are coming from when the /lib/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty/sv-latin1.map.gz file gets loaded. You can look at that file and see some of the same terms that show up in your log by doing this:

$ zmore /lib/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty/sv-latin1.map.gz

Just as a test change the KEYTABLE="sv-latin1" to KEYTABLE="us" in your /etc/sysconfig/keyboard file, reboot, check the boot.log and see if they are gone. If they are, you know the warnings are associated with that sv-latin1.map.gz file.

thx for the input...but since im gonna!! reinstall with the fedora core...
i wont bother this warning/error due 2 the fact that the the keyboard seems 2 work(this fact comes from another thread)
