Sound Problems

Post by Maniaman » Tue Jan 27, 2004 7:04 am

I just installed Fedora yesterday. Now, basicaly every time I listen to an mp3 in xmms and talk on Gaim at the same time, I hear no sounds from gaim while the mp3 is playing. Once the mp3 is done playing I am flooded by every sound gaim would be making while the mp3 is playing. Any clue how to fix?

Also tried running Fedora's soundcard detection thing. When I clicked "Play test sound" I did not hear the test sound until after the mp3 was over. Just like gaim.

I am pretty sure there is a thread around here on that very subject. You might want to do a search (I would but I only have a second). I believe the gist of it is to install ALSA and configure all your sound apps to use ALSA (it works for me). Maybe searching with "ALSA" as the key word will find the thread.
