Sound Question

Postby edwardsen35 » Sun Mar 07, 2004 7:31 pm

Sometimes when I'm using my computer the sound doesn't work because a previous program didn't shutdown properly or hasn't released the sound device yet. The error message that I usally get is:
Code: Select all
Can't open /dev/dsp: Device or resource busy.
What can you do so the sound will work? What I've been doing is shutting X Windows down and then restarting it.

I've looked through the Linux Forum on Google but I haven't found anything helpful. Is there a better place to look for help?

Thanks for the help
