hang on shutdown

[Master of Reality]

SuSE 10 x86_64, inconsistently hangs where it says the system will now be halted(or restarted). It usually powers down, but occasionally wont. This is on a laptop.
Is this a problem with ACPID, would any of the log files tell me tho error that is happening (i already looked through the ones i thought might but didnt find anything)?
