Would apt-get for redhat/fedora work on SUSE 9.0?

No you can't but you can check this out:

I don't have any experience with it but it would be interesting to hear how it works if you try it out.

Exactly the question I meant to ask !

But I've got a complementary one :
When this apt tool for Suse will be installed ... is there anywhere a Synaptic tool to implement on top of that, making the updates as easy as under RH9.0 or FC1 ?

I wouldn't yet use apt-get on SuSE Linux 9.0. AFAIK, it is still very early to do so. Thankfully, SuSE 9.0, which I have installed as well, handles dependencies much better than in any previous versions. However, I am tempted to use it as well when the whole project matures
