OpenGL/resolutions problem.

I just placed a 3D card(FX5700) in my stable Debian box.
All went well, till I closed an OpenGL game(Wolfenstein ET).
It stays in a lower resolution, showing only a part of my GNOME desktop.
GNOME itself gets fixed if I log out and in again, but GDM and Blackbox remain in this lower resolution(only a reboot brings back all the defaults)

Here's my XF86Config-4 "screen" section:

It sounds like it isn't returning you back to your default resolution. When you exit the game you should be able to press the CTRL+ALT+KPPLUS ("+" and "-" on the number keypad) to switch between your 3 defined video modes.

The part that isn't viewable in this lower resolution, stays black in all resolutions...

Oh well, for now, I'll just keep restarting X after using anOpenGL game in GNOME(I almost never do anyway...).
Someone also told me this might be either GNOME or/and XFree86(highly patched by Debian) related, so I might consider using backports for X.org and a new GNOME version(seems that older ubuntu versions had the same problem).

Perhaps you could play games in a second X session, using a minimal WM like ratpoison?

x.org works without problem with the nvidia drivers.
Don't understand why stable hasn't moved away from xfree86 yet ...

Yes, I've been using the nVidia drivers with X.org from first fork.
