Apache and java

How do I err.. use java on apache2. Do i need to do/install anything specific to have java applets run from my site?

If you just want to run applets you don't need any special software:
http://java.sun.com/applets/

If you want to run Servlets then you probably want Tomcat:
http://tomcat.apache.org/

If you want to bridge Apache web server with Tomcat JSP/Servlet, you will need mod_jk.
