Mozilla and anti-aliasing

Postby Nobber » Fri Mar 07, 2003 8:32 am

I've seen the answer to this question before, but no amount of googling seems to be enough to dig it up. So...

I've just installed mozilla 1.2.1 from source, and found that - unlike mozilla 1.1, sea - it wants to anti-alias my fonts. Result? Illegible web pages! Now, I found a line in /some/path/unix.js that seems to set a minimum font size before anti-aliasing kicks in, but changing it makes no difference.

My question, then, is: How can I turn off anti-aliasing completely in mozilla?

Lately Mozilla.org came up with two new builts HTML-viewer appz only :

- Linux GTK version (antialias fonts disabled):
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firebird/releases/0.7/MozillaFirebird-0.7-i686-pc-linux-gnu.tar.gz

- Linux GTK2 + XFT version (antialias fonts enabled):
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firebird/releases/0.7/MozillaFirebird-0.7-i686-linux-gtk2+xft.tar.gz

This should answer to your request.
