Hmmm, I actually suggested VLS/VLC first thing when we were looking for a solution. For whatever reason he found the MythTV plugin about the same time and just used it because he already had MythTV running on that machine. I think that plugin is based on VideoLAN anyway. If we need it again we'll give VLS a closer look, especially since the MythTV plugin had some annoyances with the way it worked.
