Doesn't your distro come with Apache/PHP in a working state? If not I would switch distros. But at any rate, that would be part of the mm package. The older Red Hat's required it but I don't believe the newer Red Hat's even come with the library, which to me means you can compile Apache/PHP without it.

Well I just looked through the Slackware 9 MANIFEST file and libmm is part of the Apache package. If you get the Apache and PHP packages from your Slackware distribution it should work.
