help me with xine please:)

I'm using xine to watch DVD's in SuSE 8.2

I've got the playback working ok, but I have no sound. Anyone know what to do, or what the problem might be.

I have only skimmed the configuration of xine, so even if your fix seems basic please speak up

Also I was to understand that there is a script you can use to clean up the chopiness of DVD playback??

to be honest my solution is to use ogle.

i was having similar problems in mplayer with dvds, ogle fixed them (though i have to run it in blackbox to keep cpu overhead low)

I tried to install ogle, There page by the way is very well organized, they have a list of Libs that you will need to fill the dependancies, I really like that.

Only thing is that The dependancies have dependancies! AHHHHHHHHHH! F#%KN Linux!

i had the same problem installing it in mandrake if i recall correctly, now i have red hat, i just used apt

I had sound issues with Xine in KDE. I believe I had to try and disable aRTs each time. I gave up and used Gnome which seemed to cure it (this is from memeory). However that was Mandrake. I don't like Xine. it feels too unstable, I prefer Ogle for DVD.

Never had a prob with Installing OGLE (except once in RH I had to edit the configuration file as it looked to the wrong place for my DVD).

it said that I was missing audio codec 0x2000

Like xine the DVD plays normally (rather well actually) but NO SOUND!!

could Xine be missing the same codec??

On the MPlayer codec matrix it would appear that you need liba52 installed. But I can't guarantee this will solve your problem. Have you tried opening a mixer and turning your volume up? :)

well what i would try first although it's a real gui kid answer, is right click in K file manager and see what codecs it is encoded with, then install the relevant codecs from here:
