Amazing photo!

Nightfall on the otherside of the world, always wondered what it looked like from space.

Hey void, how about you post that in the photography forum at ecsyle's www.artformsdesign.com forums?
It's a nice forum.

PS, check this out;

Very nice Tux! The one I posted came in an email from someone and I know it came from a shuttle mission from NASA. Not sure if there are any restrictions on passing the pics around (I don't think so, heck I paid for part of it). I agree that something doesn't look right about the picture to me, particularly the oceans. It appears to me that you can see the mountains and valleys on the sea floor and I don't believe you can actually see the bottom of the ocean from above so either what look like valleys and mountains are not really so, or the photo was enhanced in some way. I also can't believe that much of the earth was cloudless at any one time. Anyone have an explanation?

Maybe it was created by the same guy who made the phony satellite picture
of the Great Northeast blackout, August 14, 2003.

Its quite obviously made from 2 different pictures, there is a significant change in angle on the dark part and a extreme lack of angle for the light parts (which look very CGI to me).

If you're in the space shuttle on the way to Mars, which way is East?

Last time I saw that pic it was attributed as the last photograph taken by Columbia, before it blew-up. I didn't believe it then, as I felt the height was wrong, I believe that shot would have to have been taken at more then 6 miles out, and Columbia wasn't that high. I could be wrong. Also Columbia would not have been in that position at the time. And there is the dubious possibility of that data arriving back during the accident.

Doesn't change from it being a nice shot, all the same. It was a background for the longest time.
