I heard BSD is even better for servers than Linux.

Well, like everything else, it depends on what the role is of the server in question. For instance, if you want to run an Oracle Database server then you will not want to use *BSD. *BSD is excellent at many things though. I mainly prefer Linux because of the license that the Linux kernel uses as well as most of the other included software in Linux based distributions (GPL).
