love hurts (or "d'Ya need any coasters?)

Place to discuss anything, almost. No politics, religion, Microsoft, or anything else that I (the nazi censor) deem inappropriate.

I would agree with that. As far as I am concerned Linux based distributions have *always* been better than anything that came out of Microsoft. The only real difference is it isn't spoon fed to the general public (or force fed if you will).

For my needs Linux is just exactly right. I realize it may not be exactly right for everyone but neither is Windows exactly right for everyone which is why it peaves me off to no end when something "requires" Windows in order to use, especially in the public sector. I really could care less if Linux never gets more than 10% of the market because I am 100% happy with it and I don't really care if others want to put up with viruses, worms, trojans, adware, spyware, key loggers, etc for the rest of their lives. That's their decision (well, they could not get their computer from Best Buy without a copy of Windows so it may not have actually been their decision).

I don't want to see a Linux company or distro become the equivalent of what Microsoft is today (although Robertson and Lindows would like to fill that role). The good thing is, every day Linux becomes more popular in every area. I have no doubt that it will eventually become the dominant OS, even if it takes 25 more years. But like I said, I'm content and nothing else really matters. :)
