Sorry for the downtime, down to my last machine, spares gone

If anyone noticed the site was down today (yesterday). My firewall finally gave up on me and I had to scrounge enough old parts together to build another one. I guess I can't complain. The machine that was running as my firewall was the very first Pentium I built (not first ever, just first Pentium). It was a home brew Pentium 100Mhz and it's been running for years. When did the Pentium 100Mhz chip come out? That's how long this machine has been running. The power supply was fried so I pulled a power supply out of another old machine and fried it too so I realized something more was wrong with the motherboard. It had two drives in it and I tried hooking them up to another machine but they were both dead as well. It must have really flaked out to cause all the components to fail. I did salvage a couple of network cards and a CD-ROM drive. I shoved those into the old voidmain web server and built it up as my new firewall. I remember that machine had problems too but it's running now. Guess I'll have to make an order to TigerDirect for a couple more $10 computers. :) I could also turn one of my wireless routers loose to be the firewall if all else fails. I need something to run Squid/AdZapper/DansGuardian on though and right now that stuff is being run on the firewall box. The LinkSys router can't run that stuff because it just doesn't have the resources. Oh well, we're back up now and the new firewall seems to be doing much better than the old one for now.

Fortunately, I didn't have any Linux emergencies yesterday, thank god! :D
