perlskripts.com has new design.

I redesigned my site the other day and am wanting to know what people think. I had a very sleak and basic design before but decided to go for more robust capabilities. If you saw the site design before let me know what you think about this new design compared to the old one. If you never saw the old one before then simply let me know what you think of this new one.

It's a really good design. Too bad it's all grey! I think there is too much grey and blue on the internet. You never see much green or orange, 2 colors that look fascinating when mixed with white, grey, or black. So, I'd kinda like to see something with a little more R, G, and B. Maybe that's just me.

I used to work with this multimedia corporation, which was just like any other multimedia corporation. Meaning that they would hire creative people and have them brainstorm for months, and then tell the designers to use "Netscape blue" for the page design. Just an anecdote I thought I would share.

Yeah, that is just my personality. I am not into bright colors such as reds, oranges, or yellows. Mellow or Earth tone colors are more appealing to me, plus it has been proven that they are easier on the eyes on web pages. Bright colors make users/visitors feel anxious.

There is some decent information here on the effects that bright colors have on the eye. There is a lot of good information on this site on colors and their affects on the eye, brain, body, etc..

Notice, ironically, that site makes really great use of reds and yellows. So does Void's forum (the one we're on right now). While your site's use of grey is somewhat overwhelming. Even the blues become greyish after awhile. Like that site says "Imagine what would happen if you were in a monochromatic blue interior. Which color would your eyes be hungry for?" Just something to think about.

Heh heh, don't use my site as any sort of aesthetic example. Believe me, there was no thought put into pleasing the eye here. :)

I would say Void's site is largely dark gray with red and yellow text. I would not say that this site has a yellow theme at all. Not sure what you are suggesting but yellow will never be the theme of any site I design, sorry.

Simply suggesting that perhaps a splash of color, even a small one, can change the feel and look of a site dramatically. I wouldn't ever want to see a canary yellow website!

LOL..

That would be terrible. I will have to look into some different text colors once it comes completely together and I have time to focus on that. Thanks for the suggestion.
