Heard/worked with ECS mainboards?

Postby Engineer » Tue Feb 25, 2003 9:26 pm

Hey everyone, I am in the process of building a pc for my family back home, and found a pretty good deal on a ECS mainboard P4 2.7 GHz processor combo. I have never heard of ECS before (I'm still pretty new to this custom building thing) and was wondering what some of you thought of the company if you have worked with it before. The other low cost alternative I am looking at is DFI, I currently have a DFI and have worked with them before and I have never had any problems.

TIA

I don't like the nugget at the bottom left of their main page:
http://www.ecsusa.com/

Here's a review on one model of ECS:

Which model do you have exactly?

On an unrelated note, my son and I will be over in your neck of the woods this weekend. Going to the Supercross.

I don't have one yet, but I found what I thought to be a pretty good deal on one (or am I wrong?)

ECS P4S5MG, P4M266 Chipset, 3 PCI, AMR, 64MB Video, Audio, LAN, DDR, 478pin socket, Audio, Retail.
With cpu - Intel Pentium 4 1.7GHz, Socket 478, 400FSB, Cooling Fan & Heatsink, Tested, Retail-One Year Warranty!

$158 with shipping.

I am just looking for a decent board/processor with onboard sound/video, I am also completely open to suggestions.

p.s. Processor brand really doesn't matter to me (but I prefer AMD :D )
