partition shrinking

I shrunk my reiserfs filesystem by 20G, but now is there a way to tell where on the hard disk it goes to, so that i dont resize the partition too small for it?
Like what cylinder it goes to or something... or do i just make the partition about 20G smaller leaving it a bit larger just in case?

To be honest with you this is how I usually do it which is cheating. :) After doing this just resize your file system back up to the new partition size so you don't have any wasted space.
