Rebroadcasting Video/Audio, Copyright, Royalties, RIAA, MPAA

Place to discuss anything, almost. No politics, religion, Microsoft, or anything else that I (the nazi censor) deem inappropriate.

FYI, I just started this thread from the off-topic messages originally found here:

viewtopic.php?t=1876

By the way, I don't mind the discussion as it's very interesting but I just wanted to keep the original topic on the technical side of building a PVR with Linux.

Thanks!

How about this broadcast flag garbage? Tivo honors this DRM crap:

This world is becoming a very sad place to live. At least we still have MythTV. I suspect it won't be long before they find a way to deny us content. The day we can only watch TV via digital signal (non-air broadcast) is probably the day the good life all comes to an end. In the mean time I will enjoy it while I have it.

do you really think that? i think TV is wild, there's no controlling it. if the public are denied what they want to watch, there will be riots! the weak link in the chain is the people themselves, who may be trained to only want certain things on the TV, but by then nobody will care anyway... *

* It is possible that this has already happened
