hello all, i was trying to find a place to download the gogo mp3 encoder for use with grip under linux. i haven't had a lot of luck which surprised me, the download links i see seem to all be for windows.
does anybody know where and how i would get and set up mp3 or other audio codecs in linux? at the moment i just want to use grip to encode the ocassional cd to mp3s but it would be nice if i learnt a bit about it all along the way too.
i downloaded the lame source code package but am a little stumped as to how to plug this into grip (however i haven't opened it up and read the readmes yet so i bet it's all explained in there).

basically i'd like to know how to get and use gogo encoder with grip.

thanks.........

Not 100% sure about this but when I installed the ogg vorbis encoder I didn't have to plug it in grip, it showed up in the "encoder" tab under "Config" so it might be the same with gogo.

As a matter of fact I didn't install gogo and I can select it as an encoder.
With which distro are you doing this? RH, Mandy or Debian?

mandrake. i must confess, i haven't tried it yet. but last time i did this was on mandrake 8.2 (i now have 9.0) and i remember distinctly having to download blade and lame in order to use them in grip, because i didn't have to do that in windows using cdex (actually i think cdex comes with lame, but you have to get blade yrself).

i also remember having to browse for the blade and lame encoders to tell grip where they were installed.
