Happy new years!
The year 2007 is the year when freedom loses to copyright, once again, in the Czech Republic. Since 01/01/2007, we have to pay fees for the following merchandise to the OSA (Think 'Czech RIAA').
Printers: Up to $300 (depending on price of printer, a $300 printer will net about $10 fee)
Xerox machines: Up to $600
Magnetic media: $0.10 audio, $0.20 video
Optical media: $0.02 - $0.25 (A CD is 2¢, a DVD-RW-DL is 25¢)
Flash memory/mem cards: $0.30 per 512 MB
Hard drives: $0.50 per 40 GB
Devices capable of recording any media, including TV tuners that can record: 3% of the purchasing price.
For some reason, this excludes Blu-Ray and HD-DVD... perhaps they didn't notice?
I'll get back to this once I read more on their 'reasoning'.
